sept 1 Bob Allison slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Minnesota Twins staged a dramatic comeback over the New York AL Yankees in 13 innings by a score of 6 to 4 at Metropolitan Stadium. The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Minnesota ended up winning it in the 13th inning. After two were out Rod Carew started the rally when he tripled. Rich Reese came next and he stroked a single which scored a run. Allison then lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 30th of the season) giving Minnesota the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Minnesota finished with 9 hits in the victory. Ron Kline(3-2) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the win. Steve Hamilton(3-2) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 3 runs and 3 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. Killebrew then singled scoring the run. The New York AL batters went down meekly in the 9th. Merritt(13-10) went the distance for the shutout. Stottlemyre(6-14) ended up with the loss.
