Horlen giving up 5 in 4 IP against the A's was especially disappointing.

Left fielder Rick Reichardt connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI and Gary
Peters mowed down 10 Kansas City batters as the Chicago AL White Sox defeated
the Kansas City A's 4 to 2 at Municipal Stadium.
Peters(19-9) gave Chicago AL a solid outing.  He went 7 and 1/3 innings
surrendering 7 hits and 2 walks.  Peters got relief help from Hoyt Wilhelm
who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 22nd save. 
Jim Nash(5-17) was charged with the loss.  He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 12 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. 
Peters was pleased with his performance.  He noted, 'I had good command of all
my pitches.  Just as important, my location was right on.'

Chuck Dobson allowed only 3 hits resulting in a big goose egg on the

Dobson(9-14) had a strong outing.  He didn't give up much, just 3 hits and 5
walks in 9 innings.  The Chicago AL batters went down meekly in the 9th.
Fred Klages(1-6) took the loss.  He pitched 6 innings and surrendered just 3
hits and no walks.

In a two run game the Kansas City A's put 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 5th
inning and got by the Chicago AL White Sox by the score of 9 to 7.
Kansas City claimed the early lead in the first inning when they tallied 2
runs on 2 hits.  Chicago AL threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short. 
Blue Moon Odom(3-7) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. Odom
got help from Tony Pierce who was credited with his 6th save.  Joel
Horlen(14-16) was charged with the loss.  He was unable to control the Kansas
City offense and allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.
