june 5 Dave Rader had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the San Francisco Giants defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 9 to 6 at Candlestick Park. San Francisco wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they tallied 5 runs on 4 hits. The key at-bat was by Bruce Miller who made the crowd come alive when he laced a single which was good for two runs. Los Angeles threatened in the 9th but San Francisco was able to put down the rally. The win was credited to Jim Barr(7-4) who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Randy Moffitt got the save, his 8th. Rick Rhoden(3-6) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 runs in 2 innings of work. Murcer took his lead and swiped second. Boog Powell was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. After another out, Dave Rader came up and he laced a base-knock, and an error was also committed, which scored a run. Larvell Blanks came to the plate and stroked a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Los Angeles was out-hit by San Francisco, 10 hits to 5.
