june 5

Dave Rader had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the San Francisco Giants defeated the
Los Angeles Dodgers 9 to 6 at Candlestick Park.

San Francisco wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
tallied 5 runs on 4 hits.  The key at-bat was by Bruce Miller who made the
crowd come alive when he laced a single which was good for two runs.  Los
Angeles threatened in the 9th but San Francisco was able to put down the
rally.

The win was credited to Jim Barr(7-4) who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs.
Randy Moffitt got the save, his 8th.  Rick Rhoden(3-6) was the losing
pitcher.  He gave up 7 runs in 2 innings of work.

In a tight game it was the San Francisco Giants 6, the Los Angeles Dodgers 4

At Candlestick Park the Los Angeles Dodgers easily handled the San Francisco
Giants by the score of 6 to 2.

Los Angeles set the tone of the game in the first inning as they scored 3 runs
on 2 base hits.  The early run support proved sufficient for Burt Hooton(5-5)
and Los Angeles.  That was all the run support Hooton required.  San
Francisco was out-hit by Los Angeles, 10 hits to 7.

The loss was charged to John Montefusco(7-5).  He was touched for 10 hits and
2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
