Subject: results of Los Angeles @ St Louis

june 16

Third baseman Ron Cey hit a homerun and had 3 RBI as the streaking Los Angeles
Dodgers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 5 to 0 at Busch
Stadium.

Cey led the offense for Los Angeles.  He laced a one-base hit in the 4th
inning, doubled scoring a run in the 8th inning and popped a two-run clout
over the fence (his 9th of the season) in the 9th inning.  Los Angeles
out-hit St. Louis for the game, 10 hits to 6.

The victory went to Burt Hooton(8-5) who went 7 innings, allowing no runs.
Hooton was helped out by Dick Drago who recorded his 6th save.  Bob
Forsch(7-8) took the loss.

With the win, Los Angeles continues their noteworthy winning streak.

Andy Etchebarren had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Busch Stadium as the red-hot Los
Angeles Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the count of 6 to 2.

Los Angeles jumped on top to stay in the top of the 2nd inning when they
tallied 3 runs on 4 hits.  That was all the offense they were to need.  Los
Angeles had 13 hits for the night while St. Louis had 9.

The win was credited to Marty Pattin(2-5) who went 6 innings allowing 1 run.
Jerry Koosman(4-7) absorbed the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and
2 walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.

For Los Angeles, it was just another victory in their mounting winning streak.
Derek Jones was upset but philosophical about the loss.  'Sometimes you run
into a team that's on a roll.  This was one of those times.'
