Game 1, Bob Feller, doing an excellent job in relief all year, is rewarded with just his second start of the season.  Feller spaced out 5 hits in 6 innings, and only allowed 1 run en route to a 7-1 victory.  Sox starter Billy Pierce was uncharacteristically hittable, as slap-hitting Baltimore got 10 basehits in just 7 innings off of him.   Chuck Diering led the way for the O's, with 4 hits and 3 RBIs. Bill Wight was superb in relief of Feller, shutting out Chicago for three innings and allowing no hits, just three walks.

Game 2, Chicago puts up a relatively quick 4-1 lead, and was cruising along behind Sandy Consuegra until Baltimore made a furious rally in the 9th, scoring 2 runs to cut the lead to 4-3, and loading up the bases with 2 down and Dale Long up.  Long smashed a grounder to Chisox SS Granny Hamner, he of the 4 e44 defense, but the GranMan pleasantly surprised the hometown fans and made the play, gunning Long by a half-step to end it.  White Sox survive 4-3.  Gus Triandos and Gene Freese each had 3 hits for the O's, Granny had a homer and 2 RBIs for Chicago.

Game 3, Sox take an early 2-1 lead, but Baltimore erupts for 9 runs in the final 5 innnings to take a 10-4 win.  Dale Long went 3 for 3, and Gus Triandos had a homer and 4 RBIs.  Dee Fondy hits two homers for Chicago.  Jim Wilson notches his 19th win of the season, and we eagerly await results from New York later this week to see if he can get a 20th win.

Game 4, O's come from behind with a run in the 8th to break open a 2-2 tie, and hold on for a 3-2 win. Gene Freese's double drove home Willie Miranda, who got on base via error, for what would prove to be the game-winner.  Sam Jones had 6 effective innings before the O's bullpen put together 3 shutout innings to end this one.  Hard Luck Joe Nuxhall goes the distance for Chicago, but is undone by fielding miscues, only allowing 1 earned run.

All in all, 1955 was a good year for the Orioles, at least as good as our limited fielding and hitting would allow.  Baltimore is quite pleased with the season, based on some very dramatic wins and a strong record against our AL foes (44-37, .543).  Hopefully, we can build on this and actually end up on the good side of .500 next year, our final season in the fine town of Baltimore.  Will take some getting used to when we become the St. Louis Browns  :-)
