This series did NOT help out the Giants batting or pitching staffs!!!! july 26 49,770 fans watched an exciting game at Candlestick Park. The San Francisco Giants put a halt to their 5 game losing streak and topped the Los Angeles Dodgers by the slimmest of margins, 9 to 8. The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings. Finally, San Francisco pulled the game out in the 12th inning. Von Joshua smacked a single. Jerry Davanon next to the plate and he doubled giving San Francisco the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times. Randy Moffitt(3-4) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Dick Drago(1-4) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 3 hits and no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings. Crawford had a big day with his bat. He smashed a two-run homer (his 11th of the season) in the 1st inning, doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 6th inning and doubled which scored a run in the 7th inning. For the game Los Angeles out-hit San Francisco 14 to 2. The winning pitcher was Sutton(19-2) who allowed no runs in 5 innings. Marty Pattin was credited with his 1st save. Jim Barr(13-8) was given the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. Los Angeles now has a record of 61-47. With this loss, San Francisco has a 4-6 record of late, 51-57 overall.
