Bert Blyleven had a strong outing as the Chicago NL Cubs defeated the Los
Angeles Dodgers in 10 innings by the score of 3 to 2 at Wrigley Field.

The score was knotted at 1 after nine innings.  Chicago NL came out the victor
in the 10th inning.  After two were out Bernie Carbo was the sparkplug when
he blasted a solo shot (his 11th of the season).  Jerry Morales stepped up
next and he slapped a single.  Barry Foote then doubled resulting in a mighty
exciting win for Chicago NL and the 49,021 home town fans in attendance.
Chicago NL totaled 8 on the night.

The win went to Darold Knowles(3-1) who allowed 1 run in 1 inning. Dick
Drago(1-5) suffered the loss in relief.  He allowed 2 runs and 3 hits in 2/3
of an inning.

Ron Cey went yard and had 3 RBI and Burt Hooton was on top of his game,
blanking Chicago NL on just 3 hits at Wrigley Field as the Los Angeles
Dodgers beat the lifeless Chicago NL Cubs by the count of 7 to
0.

Hooton(12-9) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Chicago NL batters.  He gave up just 3 hits and no walks in 9 innings.  Los
Angeles managed 10 in their victory.

Rick Reuschel(4-17) was the losing pitcher.  'Hooton just dominated us' losing
pitcher Reuschel said.  'Hopefully we can get to him the next time around'
