Left fielder Oscar Gamble went deep and had 3 RBI as the Los Angeles Dodgers
defeated the league door-mat Atlanta Braves by a score of 6 to 3 at Fulton
Cnty. Stadium.

Los Angeles claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs using 2
hits.  After an out was recorded, Roger Metzger was the sparkplug when he
reached on an error.  Gamble came next and he cracked a two-run shot (his 8th
of the season).  Steve Garvey then ripping a solo home run (his 14th of the
season).  Andy Messersmith(16-11) got help from Marty Pattin who pitched
great and earned his 2nd save.

Nelson Briles(3-6) ended up with the loss. With this win, Los Angeles has a
72-51 record.  They have been 7-3 lately.  With the loss Atlanta now has a
record of 43-80, worst in the division.
