Alan my brother might be interested in a team should I ask him. Mike ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Thursday, March 04, 2004 11:09 AM Subject: [PreSmiley] 1966 update
As you are likely aware, we now have 4 open teams (KCA, BOA, MNA, NYN), and no immediate prospects that I am aware of for filling those vacancies. I am undecided between wanting the league to continue ASAP, or waiting (possibly quite some time) until most or all openings are filled, at the risk of having current owners lose interest due to the delay. I know that some of you have been attempting to recruit owners, and that is very much appreciated. In the event that we choose Plan A, we would need volunteers to run a second team. Steve D. has the first claim to the Mets if he still wants them, but the other 3 teams are wide open as of now. There cannot be trades (direct or indirect) between teams owned in this manner, and preferably we would have N.L. owners take an open A.L. team and vice-versa, to minimize the required autoplays between teams owned by the same person. Also, there can be conflicts of interest (even unintentionally) during a draft when people own multiple teams, so that's another reason why this is not the best way to proceed, but we've faced that in SMILEY since 1969 and there haven't been any problems. So finally, if you are interested in owning a second team (keeping in mind that we know that probably NOBODY want the A's and EVERYBODY wants the Red Sox, so your second team may not be the one you'd like the most), please let me know. Thanks, Alan
