Subject: getting ready for 1966
OWNERSHIP CHANGES: Jim Taglia will be running the K.C. A's in addition to the Atlanta Braves; Dave Jackson takes over the Red Sox & maintains the Dodgers; Jason Hartnell is the new owner in Minnesota. Steve Dewing will continue as owner of both the Mets & Tigers. While it is great that we have all current vacancies filled, please continue whatever recruiting efforts you are making so that we can eventually get as close to 16 owners as possible. -------------------------------------------------------- OVERUSED PLAYERS: Since 1967 was our first year, I will overlook most overusage just this once. :-) But from 1966 on, all overusage will be penalized unless it occurred due to some sort of error such as your opponent failing to import a CM or something. Pitchers can usually get away with going over by 0.1 or 0.2 IP because the Usage Report doesn't show thirds of an inning. For 1967, any player who was overused by no more than 1 GS, 5 PA or 5 IP will not have a penalty applied. The only remaining penalties I can find are: NYA: loses #2 pick [Reniff] PIN: loses #1 pick [McBean, Mota] -------------------------------------------------------- DRAFT LOTTERY: The 1966 draft lottery will be held tomorrow evening at 9 PM ET on IRC server chat.psionics.net in chatroom #presmiley. The Red Sox are slotted 16th, and the Reds will draft 15th. All other teams have an equal chance at the remaining slots. The lottery determines a team's slot for *all* rounds, not just round 1. Everyone is welcome to attend the lottery - at least one "witness" would be nice. :-) If you are not familiar with IRC, instructions can be found here: -------------------------------------------------------- CUTS: Cutdown lists (to 32 players or less) are due by 8 AM ET on Monday, March 29th. I'll get the files together shortly after that, and the 1966 draft can begin. You can send in your list anytime, and revise it prior to the deadline if you choose to. Remember that only Unrestricted players are eligible to be cut. Restricted players & rookies must be kept. A one-time exception will be made in the case of the Kansas City A's, who are unfortunately burdened with a 37-man roster currently. The A's are permitted to cut some Restricted fringe players to get down to (no less than) 28 players for the 1966 draft. Their Restricted fringe players are: Gil Blanco Jim Dickson John Donaldson Jim Duckworth Ernie Fazio Guido Grilli Joe Grzenda Vern Handrahan Rick Monday Bill Stafford Wes Stock Ken Suarez Tim Talton |
