This might have been the best game I have ever played in Strat
Right fielder Bob Kennedy had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the New York AL Yankees
defeated the Boston Red Sox in 15 innings by a score of 15 to 12 at Fenway
Park.
The score was tied at 9 after nine. Finally, New York AL pulled the game out
in the 15th inning. Gene Woodling kicked off the action when he reached on
an error. Mickey Mantle was the next batter, but he struck out. Yogi Berra
then smacked a single. Kennedy was next to the plate, but was promptly
struck out. Gil McDougald came to the plate and doubled. Jerry Coleman kept
the rally going and laced a single. Joe Collins stepped up to the plate and
he ripped a base-knock. Hank Bauer was the next batter, but he struck out.
New York AL lit up the scoreboard in the 7th inning with 4 runs on 3 hits. A
wild affair, this game saw the lead change 6 times.
Marlin Stuart(1-2) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 1 inning. Ralph
Branca recorded the save, his 3rd. Tex Clevenger(0-1) was the losing pitcher
in relief. He gave up 4 hits and no walks in 2/3 of an inning.

Left fielder Ted Williams smacked 3 homeruns at Fenway Park where the Boston
Red Sox beat the New York AL Yankees 4 to 3.
Williams enjoyed a great evening at the plate. He cracked a solo homerun in
the 4th inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 5th inning and
cracked a solo homerun (his 10th of the season) in the 7th inning. New York
AL had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Tex Clevenger(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Clevenger got
help from Jim McDonald who earned his 7th save. Bob Grim(5-1) suffered the
loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 7 innings.
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Williams said. 'Whenever
I would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
