april 10

Third baseman Ron Cey slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Riverfront Stadium
where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 6 to
5.

Cey was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much
of the offense for the visitors.  He cleared the fences for a two-run home
run in the 4th inning and rifled a three-run blast (his 3rd of the season) in
the 7th inning.  Los Angeles finished with 11 hits in the victory.

The victory was credited to Don Sutton(1-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Tom Burgmeier got the save, his 1st.  The loss was charged to Joe
Sambito(0-1) in relief.

Dave Goltz pitched a 1 hit shutout(leadoff single by Matthews in the 4th) and Joe Morgan had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Riverfront Stadium where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 6 to 0.

Goltz(1-0) was on top of his game.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing just
1 hit and 1 walk in 9 innings.  Cincinnati totaled 12 on the afternoon.

Burt Hooton(0-1) absorbed the loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 12 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.  'Goltz just dominated us' losing
pitcher Hooton said.  'Hopefully we can get to him the next time around'
