april 19 In a lop-sided win the Los Angeles Dodgers ripped the Montreal Expos by a 8 to 2 count. Montreal was unable to recover after Los Angeles went ahead in the 3rd inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. The key at-bat was by Davey Lopes who helped quiet the crowd when he lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 2nd of the season). Both teams totaled 9 on the night. Rick Rhoden(2-1) was the winner allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Marty Pattin gained credit for his 2nd save. Frank Tanana(2-2) was tagged with the loss. Los Angeles scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning with the help of 4 hits. They would be enough to earn the win. Montreal had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Burt Hooton(3-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Hooton was helped out by Tom Murphy who recorded his 1st save. Woodie Fryman(0-1) was the loser. He gave up 6 runs and 10 hits in 7 innings. Steve Bivens was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine - as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
