Subject: Expos at Cardinals Week 4

New manager attached.

Game 1
Mick Kelleher had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Joaquin Andujar was able to
finish
what he started and was credited with a complete game at Busch Stadium where
the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Montreal Expos 9 to 3.

Montreal was unable to recover after St. Louis went ahead in the bottom of
the
2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by
Sandy Alomar who made the crowd come alive when he bombed a two-run dinger
(his 1st of the season). St. Louis totaled 10 on the night.

Andujar (1-5) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Frank
Tanana (3-3) was the loser. He pitched 6 innings allowing 8 hits and no
walks.

Game 2
The St. Louis Cardinals nipped the Montreal Expos 3 to 2 at Busch Stadium in
a
hard fought contest.

St. Louis brought 2 runs across the plate in the 4th inning with the help of
3
hits. Ed Kranepool led off and keyed the rally when he hit a single. After
an out was recorded, Hector Cruz stepped up to the plate and he banged out a
single, and an error was also committed, driving in a run. After another
out, Juan Beniquez stepped in and he slapped a single scoring the final run
of the inning. Al Hrabosky was perfect in the ninth giving him his 3rd save
on the season.

The victory went to Jerry Koosman (2-3) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run.
Steve Rogers (4-1) was hit with the loss. He pitched 7 innings and
surrendered 6 hits and 2 walks.

Game 3
Mike Schmidt touched them all and had 4 RBI at Busch Stadium as the Montreal
Expos beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7 to 2.

Schmidt provided much of the offense. He delivered a single in the 2nd
inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 10th of the
season) in the 4th inning and banged out a one-base hit plating two runs in
the 7th inning. St. Louis was out-hit by Montreal, 14 hits to 7.

Woodie Fryman (1-1) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. John Denny
(2-2)
absorbed the loss. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 4
walks.

Game 4
Shortstop Darrel Chaney had 2 base hits at Busch Stadium as the Montreal
Expos
beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the count of 2 to 1.

Montreal claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring one runner
utilizing 2 base hits. St. Louis threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.

The win was credited to Don Stanhouse (2-2) who went 8 innings allowing 1
run.
Stanhouse got help from Dale Murray who earned his 5th save. Lynn
McGlothen (1-2) took the loss.

Steve Dewing was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
