Alan - You make a good point about trades and I agree that we will
probably see more dealing in this league than in SMILEY. Also, I must
have missed the piece about being able to trade draft picks. That
will make the "extortion" that much more fun! It will be the opposite
of how it was in real life, with owners needing to actually give up
players rather than a wad of cash to acquire the big guys. Sounds
different and good.

Thanks to the "Dick Allen Rule" (DAR), the Yankees have maximum
incentive to trade for Ruth early, and the same logic applies to
every other player at that level. That could be interpreted as an
argument for doing away with the DAR, but I'm not suggesting that at
all; I'm just pointing out that the resemblance between the real
teams and our teams could be significantly greater than we think.

more wide-open league as far as deals being made, and I will be
greatly surprised many if the Hall-of-Fame types do not somehow find
their way "home". Not all of them can, of course, but I suspect a
majority will do so.

approach better than claims, since Ruth's "rookie" team will benefit
in a deal (by getting *something* for him). Since the Yankees cannot
relay on getting Ruth automatically (via a claim, for the
comparatively bargain-basement price of a #1 pick), they will not be
so hasty to abandon trade efforts.

1935 draft for the express prurpose of extortion. :-)

deal. The team with the Babe in '35 is looking to fill some holes,
and the Yankees rationale is obvious. With deals like this being
common, the drafts may not be as deep in Ruths and Spahns and Kiners
as I may have once thought, but they should still be pretty good.
