Subject: RE: [SmileyList] Rules and Rosters
That is an excellent idea about making the roster reports available, and thanks to Raul for doing so (I will try to post some on the web page too, eventually). The idea of having a mechanism to be able to retain our own free agents is intriguing too. I'd like to hear some more thoughts on this topic. Do people think it is more important to try (through the claiming process) to be able to acquire top players who eventually came to their teams, or is is more important to be able to stop the high quality players you already own from being able to move on? Since one of our goals in creating this league is to try - to some degree - to maintain the "integrity" of the rosters over the long term, I lean towards leaving the free agency rule the way it is currently written, which allows (in theory) the top players to wind up where they really did. Let's hear some more ideas on this... Alan -----Original Message----- From: racamacho@... It shows that the members are taking an active interest in the future of league and are willing to tinker for the better. How about something like a "reverse free agency" in conjunction with the rule we have now....Each team will have the option of giving up their top rookie pick in order to RETAIN a player who will leave their team that year... On another front, as the owner of SOM player disks from late 50's on, if anyone would like to see the "roster report" file for their franchises ( say for 1st 5 yrs 68-72) in a print file, drop me a line and I will get them to you. This way you can atleast see which players were carded and at what positions and the basic stats. thanks, Raul Camacho San Francisco Giants ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Who invented Gatorade -- and what part did it play in winning the1967 Orange Bowl?
