Gentles,

Hmmmm... An interesting thought. There are a few free agents I wish I
could keep as well in the future. (You know, I think that starter we've got
-- kid named Gossage -- could be a heckuva reliever. And that rookie
outfielder? Sosa or something like that? He could be pretty good one of
these days too...) Something worth thinking about. But, like others have
said, I'm looking forward to this, pretty much no matter what the rules
themselves are.

Raul, I would be interested in seeing the roster report for the White Sox
-- I've got the stats handy, but I don't know who will or won't be carded
yet. Many thanks.

By the way, I guess I should try to explain how a man in Missouri, who
grew up in North Carolina, became a White Sox fan. First game I ever went
to (Braves/Phillies, June of 1974), Greg Luzinski hit a homer to win it, and
I had a hero. When the Phillies released him, the White Sox gave him
another chance, and I followed him. (I even remember the Ron Kittle/Greg
Luzinski double steal.) The funny thing is that most of the players I've
really liked since then have either been on the White Sox (Thomas, Ozzie
Guillen) or have eventually joined the team (Kruk, et al.).

Oh, and how am I preparing for this league? Re-reading my reading copy of
_Veeck as in Wreck_ (I don't read the autographed one). Hey, I AM a
librarian, after all...

Y'all's,
Ben
