august 25 Mudcat Grant tossed a complete gameas the Minnesota Twins clobbered the outmatched New York AL Yankees, 12 to 2. Grant(10-12) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't allow much, just 7 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Minnesota finished with 11 hits in the victory. Al Downing(9-14) was the losing pitcher. His biggest problem was control as he allowed 8 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. Bob Allison enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 6th inning and cracked a two-run shot (his 36th of the season) in the 8th inning. The game was a scoreless duel until the 6th inning. Wise(1-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Jim Perry gained credit for his 9th save. Sam McDowell(11-8) was the losing pitcher. Minnesota continued their winnings ways improving their record to 67-77. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With this loss, New York AL has a 4-6 record of late, 63-81 overall.
